Show a QR code

Open the Passwords app, click Wi-Fi in the sidebar, pick your network, and choose Show Network QR Code. Your friend points their phone’s camera at it and they’re on. No typing.

Share it nearby

If you’re in each other’s Contacts, it’s even easier: they pick your network on their iPhone, iPad or Mac, and your Mac offers to share the password. Click Share. Your Mac needs to be unlocked and on the network, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on.

Or copy it

In System Settings › Wi-Fi, under Known Networks, click the More button next to the network and choose Copy Password. Then paste it into a message.

A QR code that’s always there

SideDock’s QR Code tile shows a code for whichever network your Mac is on, so guests can scan it from your dock without you opening anything. The first time, it asks macOS for the saved password (macOS checks with you first) and keeps it in your Keychain.
